The parts we have chosen to sell are from the manufacturers that sell to Toyota themselves, and some of the items are even better than you can find from your local dealer. We recommend all of the parts below when installing your engine, even if you don’t buy the engine from us.
NGK  Spark Plugs
 
We use ONLY factory recommended spark plugs. We’ve found the platinum and the other gimmicky plugs are a poor choice (they foul too easily) and are a waste since they were not designed SPECIFICALLY for your 22RE/22R.

OEM Distributor Cap and Rotor
 
YEC, Daiichi and ND are the OE manufacturers for Toyota. NO ONE can match the quality of these OEM parts. “Chain store” ignition parts can create more problems than they solve. No matter if you buy them for us or not, we will always recommend OEM ignition parts for quality and longevity.

OEM Thermostat
Arguably the most important part of your cooling system. Aftermarket parts store thermostats are sold by flange SIZE, not by application. We only sell Toyota’s OEM thermostats. These are engineered specific for your Toyota 22RE/22R. Your electronic engine controls depend on PROPER engine temperature regulation to make the engine run at it’s peak performance.

Rebuilt OE carburetor (direct replacement)
We have been using the same carb builder for over 15 years and have installed them on our own vehicles. Fully rebuilt including new throttle shaft bushings, needle, seat, floats and all internal o-rings and gaskets.
Includes installation gaskets.
This is the only rebuilt carb we recommend. Our customers buy these from us once they get 3 BAD ones from the chain store. Do it right the first time.

PCV valve and PCV grommet set
 
Japanese built Sankei (Toyota OEM) PCV valve and grommet. Always recommended during any installation / tune. A worn PCV valve and hardened / leaking grommet can lead to a vacuum leak and a rough idle (or worse).

Rebuilt, balanced and flow tested fuel injector set
No matter the year or mileage of your 22RE, these injectors will benefit your engine.
Injectors are fully disassembled, ultrasonic cleaned, internal screen filters are replaced along with all new seals (both of the uppers, cushion and lower) and new pintle caps are installed.
All 4 injectors are then balanced and flow tested.
We include the flow testing and balance print-out with each set of injectors (before and after test available if you send your injectors for rebuild)

NEW O.E.M.Toyota exhaust manifold stud and nut kit
Due to the countless number of heat cycles yours have been through, it makes the studs incredibly brittle. The last thing you need when installing a new engine or head is to break a stud during install.
Our UPDATED,special kit includes all 8 OES studs and 8 OES self locking nuts.

Temperature sending unit (for your gauge)
Japanese built Sankei (Toyota OEM) temp sender unit for the gauge on the dash. It fits on your intake manifold between #2 and #3 cylinders. You need this to replace your 20+ year old sensor. It’s best to start with a new unit to keep you updated on the running temp of your engine.
This is the sender for your DASH GAUGE only!

Radiator hose kit + by-pass (with clamps)
 
We sell only OEM hoses. Our kit includes the upper, lower and even the hard to find ‘mid’ hose and the “C” shaped, by-pass hose (from the passenger side under the intake manifold to the pipe). Includes 6 stainless steel USA made hose clamps. A complete and proper kit for your truck. (depending on year, hoses may differ in appearance)

Toyota makes the BEST spark plug wires you can buy, We have seen many trucks come in with 180,000 to 300,000 miles on the odometer (and they are 25+ years old!) with the ORIGINAL Toyota OEM wire set with the original date the truck was manufactured!
These sets include the plastic wire loom stays. These are the BEST wires you can buy for your Toyota!
They were made to last and will!  We consider them a “lifetime” part when installed and taken care of.

NEW O.E.M. Clutch kit
These clutch kits are made in Japan by Toyota’s supplier (Daikin, Exedy). From regular street use to rock-crawling, we have found OEM clutches to easily stand up to any abuse you can dish out. Much higher quality than you can get from your local “chain store”, and ours are lower priced.

NEW radiator (sorry, no TURBO versions)
We’ve seen the “new design” radiators available from your local auto parts store. No. We’ll only sell you an new, all metal radiator. Available in regular 2 row design or upgrade to a Heavy Duty 3 row core.  
We recommend replacing your radiator when you install a new engine. Yours has been through too much.
3-Row is stock on some models, we may recommend it for yours as an upgrade. Call and ask.

Fuel filter
YES! Toyota calls them a “lifetime” filter. NO! We do not subscribe to that theory. When replacing your engine, DO IT. They are pretty tough to get to once the engine is installed. Be smart and and install a new one and save yourself the headache.  Buy it now.

New Japanese Radiator Caps
 
Sankei brand, Japanese built radiator caps. These are NOT the “one size fits all” low quality caps that you buy at your local chain parts store. These are made specific for Toyota vehicles. Don’t waste your money on the chain parts store units with a “pressure relief” lever. Buy the right one.

Air intake boot (throttle body to pipe)
If you’ve ever thrown a couple of rev’s at your engine with the hood open, you’d see how much it rocks back and forth. Multiply that by 20+ years of driving combined with under-hood heat and you’ll understand how these develop cracks in them. When cracked they let in un-metered air causing rough run due to running lean. Check for the cracks in the “low spots” of the accordion (especially on the underside)

Sanding block
 
We have AT LEAST five of these being used in our shop at any time. Perfect for surfacing intake manifold surfaces, throttle body surfaces or a block deck surface if you are replacing the head. We use it any time a surface needs to be FLAT. Get rid of your ROLOC sanding discs that cause un-even surfaces, do it PROPERLY by hand. You can get 1.5 inch sanding rolls at any home improvement stores and at any body shop supply. Do it right the first time. Pricey, but lasts a lifetime. This is the sanding block shown in our videos.

Ultra-Grey
This is the sealant of choice for us, and most OEMs. Used to seal oil pans and used timing covers on all of our builds. Used by our installer of choice for all other sealing uses. Oil and coolant resistant and stays pliable and is not effected by normal engine heat. Use to seal the coolant passages on your intake manifold and anything else.
We use it on every engine to seal the front cover and oil pans. You should too.

IGNITION PARTS
Oil pressure switch (for “OIL” light, NOT for gauge)
You NEVER want to re-use your oil pressure switch. If you’ve had any type of engine failure IT IS CONTAMINATED! Cheap insurance, always recommended. Start with a known-good switch. It could save your engine! Best quality, Italian built.
(be sure to clean your harness connector that slips onto the switch)

NGK ignition wire set
Toyota makes the BEST spark plug wires you can buy, but we have found a “close” substitute, These are not the same NGK plug wires available at your local parts store. The silicone they use for the wires is different, they are numbered for each cylinder and the ends are bonded to the wires. Don’t be fooled by the price of wires at your local auto parts store. They don’t last, the leads fall out of the cap due to poor fit. Ours fit the right way, the first time.

Oil Pressure Sending Unit (for GAUGE)
If you have any type of engine failure, your sender has contaminated oil in it. We DO NOT recommend re-using it! DO NOT contaminate your new engine! Only for your SR-5 truck that has the OIL PRESSURE GAUGE! Not needed if you only have a “oil” light. Japanese made unit.

Your hose from the intake to the PCV is as hard as a rock. It’s 20+ years old. C’mon. Do you expect it to seal on the new PCV valve? You don’t want an issue that is caused by the worn (and not sealing properly) PCV hose.

ENGINE ELECTRICAL
ECU Temperature sending unit (NOT FOR GAUGE)
Temp sender unit for the ECU. This unit tells the ECU the engine temp only, not for gauge. This is the one in the front of your intake manifold. Recommended to keep your engine working at it’s optimum. Follow our test procedures and replace it as necessary, or just buy a new one and not worry about it.
